Psychoeducational / Learning Disability Evaluations
Overview
A Psychoeducational Evaluation clarifies how an individual best learns by examining thinking skills, academic abilities, and learning processes. It identifies areas of strength, as well as areas where additional support may be beneficial. This approach provides a compassionate, data- driven understanding of a person’s learning profile.
Purpose
Individuals and families often request this type of evaluation when a person appears to work harder than same-aged peers, struggles in certain subjects, or feels frustrated or discouraged about school or learning tasks. The evaluation can identify learning differences such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, or dyscalculia and can alert clinicians to signs of ADHD or processing challenges. Findings help schools, families, and individuals implement targeted supports that foster academic success and emotional well-being.
Our Approach
At Segel Psychological Center, clinicians have extensive experience evaluating individuals from early childhood through college and beyond, including those with complex learning and emotional profiles. Current, research-based assessment tools are used, and each person’s history, strengths, and struggles are carefully considered. Reports are clear, detailed, and written so that individuals, parents, teachers, and school teams can readily understand the findings and act on the recommendations.
