ADHD Evaluations
Overview
An ADHD Evaluation examines attention, organization, activity level, and impulse control to determine whether an individual meets criteria for Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. The process typically includes interviews, questionnaires, developmental and academic history, and targeted cognitive and executive testing. The goal is to create a complete and accurate picture of attentional and executive functioning.
Purpose
ADHD Evaluations are often sought when a child or teen has difficulty sitting still or staying focused in class, or when an adult has long felt scattered, overwhelmed, or inconsistent in daily tasks. A well-conducted evaluation can explain longstanding challenges with focus, follow-through, time management, or impulsivity. The results open the door to evidence-based strategies, accommodations, and treatments that can make school, work, and daily life more manageable and less stressful.
Our Approach
At Segel Psychological Center, ADHD is approached carefully and thoughtfully, with attention to the whole person rather than only a checklist of symptoms. Clinicians consider alternative or contributing factors such as anxiety, mood concerns, trauma, learning difficulties, and medical issues so that any diagnosis is accurate and well supported. Individuals leave the process with clear explanations and concrete recommendations that can be implemented immediately in everyday life.
