Vocational Interest & Aptitude Evaluations

Overview

A Vocational Interest and Aptitude Evaluation helps clarify the types of careers and work environments in which an individual is most likely to thrive. It examines strengths, preferences, talents, and transferable skills through structured assessments and collaborative discussion. The process results in a more focused understanding of vocational direction.

Purpose

These evaluations are particularly helpful for teens and young adults exploring future careers, adults considering a career change, or individuals returning to work after illness, injury, or other life transition. They are often used in coordination with Vocational Rehabilitation, the Division of Blind Services, and similar programs to support employment planning. Findings offer realistic, individualized guidance about education, training, and job search strategies.

Our Approach

At Segel Psychological Center, these evaluations are completed by licensed psychologists who have extensive training in psychological, educational, and vocational assessment. Our psychologists integrate standardized testing, clinical expertise, and individualized goal-setting to help clarify a person’s strengths, interests, and realistic career options. The process is supportive, collaborative, and focused on providing clear, practical recommendations that align with each individual’s abilities, preferences, and long-term aspirations.
