General Intellectual (IQ) Evaluations
Overview
A General Intellectual (IQ) Evaluation measures key thinking skills such as reasoning, problem-solving, verbal abilities, working memory, and processing speed. It provides a clear understanding of overall intellectual functioning and cognitive strengths. This type of evaluation may stand alone or be incorporated into a broader assessment.
Purpose
IQ evaluations are used for many purposes, including gifted placement, clarification of learning challenges, documentation for services, or vocational questions. They offer structured, objective information about cognitive abilities. This information can be especially helpful when planning educational, occupational, or support services.
