Gifted Evaluations
Overview
A Gifted Evaluation assesses advanced reasoning and learning abilities using standardized, age- appropriate tests. It clarifies whether a child meets criteria for gifted programming or may benefit from enrichment or academic acceleration. The evaluation also provides insight into the child’s cognitive profile and learning style.
Purpose
Parents often consider a Gifted Evaluation when a child learns very quickly, demonstrates advanced vocabulary or problem-solving, asks unusually sophisticated questions, or appears bored with typical classroom work. This type of assessment helps schools and families understand how to keep an advanced learner engaged and appropriately challenged. It also supports planning that considers social and emotional needs alongside academic growth.
