Dr. Segel is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Psychology. He then earned a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Houston Baptist University (HBU) in Houston, Texas. After completing his graduate studies at HBU, Dr. Segel enrolled at the California School of Professional Psychology–Fresno (CSPP), where he earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology.

While attending CSPP, Dr. Segel participated in a research practicum under the supervision of Dr. Donald Templer, a renowned psychologist in psychological research. During this time, Dr. Segel co-published an article in Perceptual and Motor Skills titled “Exploration of the Neuropsychological Spectrum in Clients with Heterogeneous Disabilities.”

Dr. Segel’s interest in acculturative issues led him to study under Dr. Noel B. Peters, who chaired his dissertation. As part of his doctoral research on acculturative stress and depression, he authored an article on diverse perspectives on education and peace, which was later published in the International Journal of Humanities & Peace.

In 1994, after being accepted to the University of Miami School of Medicine/Jackson Memorial Hospital, Dr. Segel relocated to Miami to complete his pre-doctoral internship. During his internship, he trained in multiple units throughout the hospital, including the Neuro-Trauma Rehabilitation Unit, where he conducted neuropsychological assessments in a sub-acute rehabilitation setting.

While at the University of Miami School of Medicine, Dr. Segel also trained in the adult outpatient clinic, providing psychotherapy to adults and older adults. His rotations included the adult inpatient psychiatric unit and the cardiac intensive care unit. During his internship, he served in a leadership role as Chief Intern for his cohort.

After completing his internship, Dr. Segel relocated to Boca Raton, where he completed his post-doctoral fellowship in a private practice setting. He became licensed as a psychologist in Florida in 1996. Dr. Segel now specializes in neuropsychological and forensic evaluations.
